New Surface Pro from Microsoft features LTE support

Microsoft have just released the launch video for their new Surface Pro, and it looks stunning. The Surface series has been targeted at designers and creatives in an attempt to lure them away from the MacBook Pro which dominates this market for Apple. While Microsoft’s Surface products have drawn some big fans, it has yet to really challenge the MacBook Pro.

The new Surface Pro has one new feature that could help Microsoft make up some ground; LTE support. This could be an important feature for anyone on the fence between this product and it’s competitors. The added mobility that LTE support gives means that you can create and work without limits in more places than ever before. Apple have been slow to adopt this functionality, despite Microsoft already adding LTE into some their other devices. While the fight between Apple and Microsoft isn’t as close in this space as Apple’s fight with Samsung in the smartphone market, ignoring this feature could be damaging in the long run.

The new Surface Pro supports the use of the Surface Pen and also the Surface Dial which we have already seen work beautifully with the Surface Studio. It also features a new Alcantara Keyboard that looks really good teamed with the already sleek Surface Pro. Features like fingerprint readers, 13.5 hours of battery life and a hinge that allows you to work at a 10 degree angle push the new Surface Pro further to not only match competitors, but completely differentiate itself from them.

The Surface Pro comes in lots of different flavours; from 128GB storage, with 4GB of RAM and an Intel Core M3 (7th Gen) inside to a massive 1TB SSD, with 16GB of RAM and Intel’s Core i7 (7th Gen) inside.
